Edited by: Farrellus Cameron on 05/02/2007 22:27:06 You doomsayers make me laugh, stop being so freaking paranoid. THEY ARE NOT TRYING TO END MARKET HUBS.
All they are talking about is letting people move their purchases one or two systems away from where they bought them. It doesn't make anything easier. They don't want it to be a galaxy wide delivery service. Its literally one or two jumps at max. Instead of 20 jumps to Jita you'll still have to fly 19 jumps, it just means you won't have to go to Jita and add to its server load just to pick up your purchase. You'll go next door and pick it up there.
Market hubs will not end, and again "THEY DO NOT WANT MARKET HUBS TO END" it will just disperse part of the server load to the neighboring systems. Are you guys really whining that people will only have to fly 19 jumps instead of 20? "ITS THE END OF EVE! RUN FOR THE HILLS!" ----------------------------------------------------

I really REALLY wish people would read better. It was already stated NUMEROUS times, that taxing particular systems would not solve the issue as trade hubs would just move around. As oveur has already stated the issue is not the hubs themselves, but rather the lag they cause from having so many people in one system.
Actually in this case it would because if the broker fee was dynamically based on the number of transactions in the system, moving the hub would solve nothing - the high fee would follow you. The only way to reduce broker fees would be to spread the sales out over several systems...partial solution, see?
Honestly, the best solution (but unfortunately far from the simplest) is a psychological one rather than a technical one. For example, I can sell more of my products in 2 days at twice the price than I can in a month in any other region. People need to realise a few things before any of the projects (both Player and Dev) to create new trade hubs meet with reasonable success.
-A contract anywhere in The Forge has about the same visibility as one in Jita. The need to place all contracts in Jita is a residual mindset from the limitations of the escrow system. -Jita is not always the cheapest place to buy because many people buying the same thing in one location drives prices up. -Jita is not always the best place to sell, many people selling the same product in one location pushes prices down. -The last 2 points are not contradictory; it depends on the item in question. -It doesnĘt take much effort at all to check contracts in Essence, Domain, Genesis and Heimater and your local Region as well as The Forge.
Producers and consumers need to start actively promoting the use of their local trade hubs before anything will change. On your way to Jita to sell? Throw some of your produce up in the trade hubs along the way and spare someone the supernatural horror that is Jita local chat.
Still, good luck in getting the sheep to break habit or use their brain.
Yup, you can't make people less stupid. It's not a question of making them use their brain, its that their brains don't work well to begin with. I know many people wish you could make people less stupid, but its just not going to happen. ----------------------------------------------------
